Jake Paul says his boxing match against Mike Tyson will go ahead as planned, insisting ‘nothing has changed’ after the ring legend required medical attention over the weekend.

Social media sensation Paul will take on former heavyweight champion Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on 20 July in a fight that will be streamed globally on Netflix.

There was concern for Tyson following reports he required urgent medical attention while on board a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday. In Touch Weekly reported an urgent message was issued over the tannoy system, asking if a doctor was on board due to the ‘medical emergency’.

Tyson’s representatives have since released a statement explaining the 57-year-old is ‘doing great’.

With their fight less than two months away, Paul has played down the severity of the incident. He wrote on X: ‘You love to make s**t up before knowing the facts for clicks/likes. Nothing changed.’

Tyson’s team confirmed he required medical attention after feeling nauseous due to what they described as an ulcer flare up.

‘Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,’ read a statement. ‘He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing.

‘He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him. However, it’s false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay. This two hour delay was due to air conditioning issue on the aircraft.’

Tyson will be 58 by the time that fight takes place with the 31-year age gap between him and Paul a major talking point leading into the fight.

Tyson officially retired from boxing in 2005 having lost three of his final four fights. He returned to the ring in 2020 for a lucrative exhibition bout with fellow ring legend Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

His summer showdown with Paul will be fought under professional boxing rules, meaning the result of the fight will appear on both men’s official records.

Paul is 9-1 in professional boxing, having won his last three bouts since defeat to Tommy Fury last year.
