Mike Tyson’s postponed fight with Jake Paul has been rescheduled to November 15 after the former world heavyweight champion suffered a health scare last month.

Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up while boarding a plane to Los Angeles, with medical assistance called for the 57-year-old and the flight delayed as a result.

As a result, his controversial fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul – initially set for 20 July – was delayed but it will now go ahead on Friday 15 November at Texas’s AT&T Stadium, which was originally scheduled to host the contest.

‘Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly,’ Tyson said in a press release on Friday.

‘I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me and to MVP [Paul’s promotional company], Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best-rescheduled date for all parties.

‘While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out. On Friday, November 15, watch this in person at AT&T Stadium or live on Netflix.’

While Tyson was a renowned heavyweight champion in his prime, the American has not boxed professionally since 2005 and last fought in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.

November’s rescheduled fight is still set to be sanctioned professionally, with the fight contested over eight two-minute rounds and the result going on the pair’s professional records.

The 31-year age gap between the pair on fight night will also be the biggest in professional boxing history.

Paul, who is 9-1 in his professional career, greeted the news on social media with a short statement: ‘New date, same place, same fate.’

The 27-year-old’s sole loss came against Tommy Fury last year, while his most notable successes have come against fighters with largely MMA backgrounds.

A highly-anticipated world title rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will serve as the card’s co-main event.
